Screen resolution

Post  Mike Berry on Tue Jul 10, 2012 5:52 am

Discussion amongst Our project S1HD (16-bit) and various others that now co-mingle, such as Sonic 3 HD, and the new Sonic 2 HD development team have taken place. Our screen resolution size will be at least 5 times that of the normal Genesis' standard resolution. Now being so you are working on the Game Gear Versions of the game, your optimal resolution should be at least 6 times that of the game gear's standard resolution. If you require more information, fill us in at http://www.sonic3hd.com/ and http://www.SonictheHedgehogHD.com. I will keep everyone posted on the progress of our project.

Thank you. I will be ripping the tiles and upscaling them to 48 x 48 for artists to use. This is because each different 8x8 square in the Game Gear version is a unique piece of artwork.

Didn't you guys say you were making your own engine or were you going to use something like our WinterHell C++ engine?

We were planning our own engine, but I just didn't have enough time. The project hasn't been around long, and it only got popular recently.

Since our projects are pretty much merged, won't they be on the same engine though?

Technically, we are only using the stages that have never been on the genesis, are you implying that you are attempting to recreate each of the stages as your own project, or are you going to just going to stick with the stages that we need?

Well if that's the case, you guys can just come on over to Sonic 1 (16-bit) HD and make production faster. We have no need since our goals are the same. In fact, if you do come over, we can speed up production of the stages. We have one song for Skybase, but I can set up a Group just for you guys.

The problem is, my project hasn't had much time to grow, so operating exactly alongside you wouldn't really speed things up that much. The Game Gear levels have their own fans who are willing to remaster them, as do the Genesis levels so it would go much better if both projects were allowed to grow for a month or so and then were fused.

This is the level of quality my team can produce right now.

With time, I can work with my team on perfecting the art style set by Corral Summer. Again, just straight up fusing with you right out the gate would be foolish, and the result would be rather disappointing.
