All discussion about the foreground goes here.

I think we should have some variety in tile color for the bonus stages, but that's just me.

Or perhaps designs "engraved" into the tile? That might be kind of cool for some variety.

Or maybe each bonus stage should be a different color? Either way, that looks pretty good.

That'll work. Are there any Bonus Stage specific items like timers?

As far as I know, no. The continue boxes will probably be done by Corral, and I'm uploading the last 2 tiles for the bonus stages (not including the background.)

I voted no, because the shine needs to be adjusted quite a bit. It looks odd right now. Maybe make it a bit more rounded, since we aren't necessarily limited by 8 bit sized tiles here. Also, the colors should be adjusted as well. The purple on the bottom of the tile is supposed to be the tile's shadow.

I agree. This was just supposed to be an enhanced reference for ideas that we could detail in. I don't like the shine myself.

I had a couple ideas like possibly making it look like a translucent jewel block with an engraving on the side... maybe a diamond engraving? And then animating the shine? I'm not sure if that will be forgiving on basic RAM speeds though... possibly an alternate scrolling layer that looks like a reflection?

Remember this is a remake of the most important Sonic game ever. You should go all out if you feel it suits the piece.

Though, animating the foreground of a stage would probably be bad news for the minimum requirements, so let's try to avoid that unless absolutely necessary.

Maybe all of the stages could correspond to what color Emerald is next in your collection.

I wouldn't go with that. It doesn't allow for much color variety when you can only get one emerald.

There are 8 bonus stages, so the colors should go something like this:

1. Green
2. Brown
3. Purple
4. Pink
5. Red
6. Yellow
7. Black
8. Grey

Unless the first 7 should be Chaos Emerald colors.

It actually should be:

1. Blue
2. Purple
3. Pink
4. Red
5. Orange
6. Yellow
7. Grey
8. Sky-Blue

Because those colors correspond directly to the emerald color order from S3K. The yellow was based on an extra emerald found in the game.

That sounds good! All the colors are relatively different, so there would be a good variety.

Me too. So we are using the Chaos Emeralds from S3K instead of the original Sonic 1?

Oh no, that is the color scheme. We aren't using the Sonic 3 styled emeralds in our fan game.

Alright. I do like the idea of using that color scheme for the bonus stages though.

It has a complementary rotating color pattern when played. Also it keeps Consistency because the pattern infinitely change when switching between stages.
